A Fresh Start!!

Hola & Happy New Year!

I am looking forward to a fresh new start to 2012…getting my new (and improved) studio running, setting goals, and getting on with some new & exciting work .  I love this opportunity, it gives me space to reflect and explore and time to develop future projects.  I can’t wait to get started…Hope to see YOU on the road!

Stone Soup (an art sale…and a party!)

Thursday evening Dec 22nd, join me and 10 art buddies at the fabulous Stone Soup Kitchen. We will be showing and selling our work from 6pm-10pm.  Bring your friends and come on over to the Holiday Art Sale & Party.  Location: 584 Woodward Avenue.  If you haven’t been to Stone Soup yet, it’s between Grant Park & Cabbagetown, just off Memorial Dr, near the Oakland Cemetary.

The Spruill Gallery!

As the holiday grows nearer (and I get busier), I have just 2 more events before the year comes to a close.  I hope to see you at these warm & joyous holiday events…

Saturday afternoon Dec 17th, join me (and a dozen fantastic jewelers) for a trunkshow at the Spruill Gallery. On this one afternoon, we will each be showing at this special invitational trunkshow.  All the artists will be in attendance, so come out and meet your favorite jewelers at the gallery. The event is from 11am-3pm.  Location: 4681 Ashford Dunwoody Rd.

New-The Blue Market!!

Next up on the Holiday Show Horizon…The Blue Market, a brand new local Atlanta artist market featuring art, gifts, music and food!  It will be held at Blue Mark Studios (hence the name “The Blue Market”).  The venue is located in Atlanta’s West Midtown area and this is the grand opening event!  It is one day only this coming SUNDAY December 11th from 12PM to 5PM.

The Blue Market is a one-of-a-kind artist market & shopping experience.   There will be food from the great folks at The Good Food Truck (my favorite food truck!) & Get Baked will be serving up sweets.

Come join us for an afternoon of fun!  If you’re not familiar with the building, it is an amazing renovation/restoration of the St. James Church, which now house artist studios, gallery space & is available for private events.

The Telephone Factory Holiday Art Show

The Telephone Factory Art Show is happening this Sat & Sun Dec 3rd & 4th.  Put it on your calendar, if it’s not already!!  Artists are hosted by the generous folks that live in the lofts at  828 Ralph McGill Boulevard, NE (intown, near the Carter Center).  Hours: Sat 11am-7pm, Sun 1-6pm.  This show has been rollin’ for 16 years and it’s gonna be big FUN!  There will be 50+ artists in spaces on the 1st, 2nd & 3rd floors of this fantastic bldg. You will find me (along with painters Manami & Jennie Juechter of Urban Attic) on the 1st floor, space #W-2. We are being hosted in a gorgeous space at the front of the building (that fyi, is available for lease).  Looking forward to seeing  you there!

ArtVisions!

I will be joining 150 artists at The Paidiea School for their annual holiday show on Nov 19th & 20th. Please join us (and help support a great school) this weekend.   Show hours are Sat 10-5 & Sun 12-5

All purchases help to raises funds for the visual art programs, yes sirree!

The show is located in Atlanta at 1509 S. Ponce de Leon in the art gallery.

The Paideia School teaches children with respect for their individuality, and was founded upon the idea that children have different interests and learning styles, and that they progress at different rates. The school offers a challenging academic curriculum along with performing and fine arts at the junior high and high school level.

In celebration: the Day of the Dead!

This annual amazing show is happening Sat Nov 5th from 7-10pm at the YoungBlood Gallery in Virginia Highlands.      You’ll wanna get yourself up and out of the house for this one!  The Day of the Dead Coffin Show features 100 artists designing alters inside tiny coffins.  I look forward every year to making my art piece for this event!  This years’ piece is titled “Batteries Required”.

Get yourself gussied up (costumes encouraged) and come on over.  Grinder Nova will be supplying the tunes, the Good Food Truck (my favorite) will be supplying food, and of course YB will be providing the adult beverages.

Kentuck Festival of the Arts!

Some things are worth the wait!  Kentuck Festival of the Arts is celebrating 40 years of rockin’ the art scene!!  If you haven’t yet made it to the Kentuck Festival, you need to get on over this weekend Sat & Sun Oct 15th & 16th to Tuscaloosa, AL (Northport). This is one of my all time favorite festivals…it is a good time just waiting for you! There’s great Art (Outsider & Contemporary), the best line-up of Artists you’ll ever want to meet, and then there’s tons of Music, Food, & Demos!

The festival has been designated a Top Ten Art Festival by American Style magazine and is a great show that you really should pop for this year, so load up the car & head on over on Sat & Sun 9am-5pm.

You an find me in my usual spot # H-27, come by for a visit & some laughs.  Oh…and did I mention this is the first time in 3 years you won’t have to compete with a major football game to get to the show?

Artwalk 2011!!

I’m headed to Birmingham this weekend for ArtWalk, one of my personal favorite shows.  It all happens Friday & Saturday (Sep 9th & 10th) in the downtown loft area. Come on down to see 100+ artists, musicians, street performers, food & drinks, too.  Friday (5-10) & Sat (Noon-6).  Friday night is a rockin’ good time, and Saturday is a little more laid back.  A little inside info:  come on Friday night to get the best of the best!

You can find me in the big window at Legge Lofts located at 2319 1st Ave, North.  Stop by and say Howdy!  All the action happens on 1st Ave North & 2nd Ave North between 21st St North & 24th St North.  Can you say Big FUN!

Folk Fest!

I have been invited to show my work at the Yee Haw booth this year!  Julie will have a nice large booth at Folk Fest 2011 with a wonderful space full of  amazing artwork by the talented Yee Haw Industries artists.   Yee Haw will be offering a tasty sampling of a few of their favorite southern artists in the gallery (including yours truly).   Come on over and give us a big Howdy!

I will be there for the “Meet the Artist” Opening Night Party on Friday evening from 5-10PM.  Come out and meet your favorite artists &  see some astounding artworks.  Admission for opening night festivities is $15, and that gets you in for the Friday night soiree along with re-admission on Sat and Sun.

If you have never made it out to Folk Fest before,  I highly recommend a trip to this once a year event.  It features 100 galleries & dealers from around the country specializing in Self-taught Art, Outsider Art, and Folk Art.
